The Youth Engagement Project (YEP) is funded through a contract with the California Department of Social Services (CDSS). YEP’s leadership team includes representatives from the County Welfare Directors Association (CWDA), California Youth Connection (CYC), and CDSS. This project is designed to build capacity for youth engagement in Child Welfare Systems through intergenerational partnerships in which:
- Foster youth are naturally included in policy and practice decisions that affect them.
- Foster youth ereceive the preparation and support they need to share constructive ideas that can be implemented.
Current and former foster youth serve as Ambassafors in eight counties throughout California to improve the child welfare system through:
- State Partnerships
- County Partnerships
- Youth Organization Partnerships
